Day 1 – Friday, June 6, Heading for the Gorges du Tarn

Day 1 | Drivers set off on the Gorges du Tarn circuit.

Legends, emotions… and top-level sport

Lozère, June 6, 2025 — Today, 594 amateur and professional riders set off into the Gorges du Tarn for the first day of the Trèfle Lozérien AMV. 234 kilometers, 5 formidable special stages… and a unique atmosphere blending emotion, nostalgia, and fierce competition.

A legend’s emotion: Stéphane Peterhansel back on track

One of the day’s highlights: Stéphane Peterhansel, known as Monsieur Dakar, took to the track riding the very same bike with which he won in 1995 — a symbolic return to Lozère. Now approaching 60, the multiple Trèfle winner had not competed since the 2016 anniversary edition. Joy and elegance were still very much on display from the record holder with nine victories in this event.

Race update: Garcia flies, fierce battle behind

There was no doubt about today’s leader: Josep Garcia, three-time winner of the event, dominated all five special stages in the Gorges du Tarn. His sharp, incisive style allowed him to build a 27-second lead over his closest rival.

Podium battle wide open

Behind Garcia, the fight for the podium is extremely tight, with six riders separated by less than ten seconds.
Despite a sleepless night due to illness, classics specialist Jérémy Tarroux delivered a remarkable performance to finish second on the day. In provisional third: Breton rider Léo Le Quéré (ranked 3rd in the world in Enduro 3), made a strong impression on his first appearance in Lozère.

Other standout performances

  • Julien Roussaly, after a cautious start, finished strongly and is gaining momentum.
  • Valérian Debaud, despite some technical issues, remains in the top 5.
  • Théo Espinasse, 6th overall, slightly disappointed after a crash in the second special stage.
  • Hugo Blanjoue, 7th, looking to bounce back in Aubrac after a frustrating day.
  • Killian Lunier, 8th, saw his podium hopes dashed by a fall.
  • Julien Gauthier, 9th, remains relentless and ready to seize any opportunity.
  • Romain Boucardet, 10th after Thibault Giraudon’s disqualification (penalty for breaching the 20-meter rule).

See you tomorrow in the Aubrac

After this thrilling day, riders will tackle the second stage of the Trèfle Lozérien AMV tomorrow, deep in the heart of the Aubrac region. 230 km on the agenda, with challengers aiming to dethrone Garcia… or defend their place in this elite field. The suspense is far from over.
